Back in high school, when I started my photography business for my Senior Project, my first paid photo shoots were of my fellow peers for their senior yearbook pictures. I hadn’t done a single student photo session since then, until last week.
Honestly, I was a little apprehensive of doing the shoot. I’ve spent the last couple of years getting used to photographing people in love. The few shoots I’ve done that weren’t of a couple almost always included more than one person, so senior pictures felt a little daunting; The client is by herself, so she doesn’t have someone she feel comfortable with to interact with, thusly making posing a bit more of a challenge.
I loved this shoot. Laurel was an absolute blast to work with. She relaxed right away and fell into the modeling role naturally. A lot of the credit also goes to Laurel’s choice in location. I absolutely loved the areas around Ashland we went to to shoot. We even lucked out with the weather (which I originally was complaining about) because, granted, it was cold, but the lighting was perfect.
So thanks, Laurel, for restoring my faith in taking senior photos. This is something I definitely want to do more of in the future. :)
