Twenty-Third Turn Around the Sun

Today is my birthday. I’m 23 years old.

Many people don’t like to make a big fuss out of their birthday - some don’t even like birthdays! I am not one of these people. I celebrate my birthday for about a month. All of April (and usually part of the end of March) is mine. I am certain there are people out there who view this as selfish, but who cares? Our birthday is the one day a year that we’re allowed to be selfish. We can fully embrace the awesomeness that is ourself and celebrate being alive with the people we love. Not to mention the tendency to get to eat a lot of delectable food and get presents! Everyone loves presents, I’m just sayin’…

I’ve been away from the blogging world for far too long. I’ve been caught up in work (my day job, that is, not my photography, sadly) and school and the dull beat of winter. My mood and creativity tend to suffer dramatically during the winter, but as soon as spring arrives the happy juices start flowing and it always feels like finding myself again. It’s incredible.

On this, my 23rd birthday, I am setting a goal to be more present in my own life. I tend to fill countless hours with too much meaningless nothing and I want to challenge myself to really be; To do things I love, to challenge myself and take risks, and most importantly work towards my ultimate goal of being a full-time photographer.

I have some exciting things happening in my life soon and I’m thrilled to share the journey with anyone who’s interested in coming along. To those who have supported me: Thank you.

Happy April Fool’s Day! Have an amazing day! I plan to. :)
