Mayday in a Good Way

It’s official: May is going to be FAN-freakin’-tabulous! Why? Cause I’ve got a TON of awesome stuff going on.

First off, many of you may have heard me mention this elusive workshop I’ll be attending. Please, allow me to elaborate: The workshop is hosted by the fabulously talented Holli True of Holli True Photography

It’s kind of a funny story about how I found out about this workshop. It was March 29th, the day I launched my website re-design. I spent most of the day making final touches on the site and, as always, had Facebook open in a different tab. I was scrolling through the news feed when I found a post by David Jay of Showit about Holli and how proud he was of her for supporting other photographers by profiling them on her blog. I clicked the link to check her out, realized she was an Oregonian and got interested. After about 10 minutes of reviewing her work, and after I retrieved my jaw from the desktop (seriously, she’s THAT good), I stumbled upon her workshop page.

WHOA. I was dying to go. The only problem: finances. I could certainly finagle it, but it was going to be tough. I sent a few messages to Holli and got even more excited after speaking with her. She is SO personable. She’s a total delight to talk to and obviously loves what she does. Her bubbly mood is infectious!

About 8 hours of desperate contemplation later my mom and I were chatting on Facebook and just as we were going to log off I told her about the workshop. I waited patiently while she was silent, looking over the website. When she came back she simply said, “We think you should do it. It’ll be a whole hell of a lot better than college.” (HA!) After another half hour of talking (and a little crying - yes, I cried I was so excited) I was registering for the workshop. My parents have so graciously offered to help with the financial side as an early graduation present. Best. Parents. EVER!

I honestly cannot wait for this workshop. Every detail I hear about it makes it sound better and better and I honestly think it’s going to be an excellent investment in my own business.

Here are a few of my favorite photos by Holli True!

Isn’t she fantastic?

There are several other awesome things I have going on in May: The weekend after the workshop my boyfriend and I are going away for a long weekend to Sunriver Resort & Spa for a few days of bike riding and pampering. He got a voucher for half off from Living Social for my birthday. Love that website! Later in the month I’ve got a wedding reception to shoot at the beautiful Mt. Pisgah Arboretum and a maternity session with an old friend the very next day!

All of this while in school full-time and working! Phew! It’s going to be amazing!

PS - I’ve just discovered Google Calendar. HOW have I been missing this all my life?!

Anyone else got big plans for the coming months?
