I knew Katie and her sister, Heidi, from high school. We were in the same grade and Katie’s father was also my math teacher (Shout out to Mr. Quiel! Thanks for pulling me through my toughest subject, thusly allowing me to actually graduate!) Anyway, back to Katie!
Katie approached me a few months back about doing her engagement photos and I was thrilled! She wanted to do the session at OSU which was also exciting for me as its my university’s rival school and I’d never been there! Katie and I had several discussions over the last few weeks about how we’d work around rain since it seemed inevitable that our session would be a drizzler. It seems Mother Nature wanted to throw us a bone, however, and I couldn’t have been happier during my drive to Corvallis with my windows rolled down and Safety Dance blaring through my speakers. I’m not gonna lie, I did some car dancin’. :)
Katie and Kyle were so much fun to work with. Katie and I chattered on about anything from school to how incapable we are of wearing fashionable accessories without injury. We tried to keep Kyle in the loop but there’s only so much a man can know about the pains of getting your hair tangled in your earrings. We all got a laugh when I stood up from lying on the ground to get a shot and had a marshmallow stuck to my knee. Yeah. A marshmallow! In the middle of a college campus!
Katie and Kyle: You were a delight to work with. I wish you both all the happiness you deserve and I hope you don’t have any unwelcome encounters with marshmallows on your wedding day! I hope you enjoy your photos!
PS - I tried out some new vintage-esque techniques on these photos. I will, of course, provide Katie and Kyle with duplicate copies of their photos: one with this vintage feel and one with a natural feel. What do you think?
EDIT: For some reason these photos are a bit dull here on my blog. They’re not on my facebook page, however.
