Mini Session - Mom!

Last weekend I was in Medford again for a couple of sessions. One of them was a friend of my mom’s (stay tuned for her photos!) and afterwards mom and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall day and took a few photos of her in Lithia Park, just for fun! I’m very happy with how they came out. I’m so lucky to have such a cute mom. :)

Obscene Chipperness

I am not a morning person. I wish I were, but I’m just not.

Often times for me, waking up feels like torture. My eyes feel dry and heavy, my throat is usually sore (I’m pretty sure I sleep with my mouth open… gross) and for the first hour after waking my mood is quite dismal. This isn’t the case for the rest of my family. My entire life I remember waking up to my parents bustling around downstairs; my dad making himself breakfast and the sound of his shoes on the entry when he left for work, my mom doing laundry or vacuuming, and on the weekends they’d both be working in the yard - these, to me, are the sounds of morning.

Yesterday the tables turned.

My mom was here visiting for a few days. The night before she’d gone to bed before I did at about midnight. I woke up at 5:45 am and couldn’t go back to sleep. I read until 7:00 and then crept out into the living room to see if mom was awake. She wasn’t, but my presence in the room woke her immediately. Moms are weird that way.

And me? I was freakish! I was absurdly chipper, feeling much better after having been sick for about a week, and my mother was the one moaning and burrowing into her sheets while I flung the windows opened and giggled about nothing in particular.

We went grocery shopping (I was out of everything) washed my bike and pumped it’s tires, did laundry, cleaned old clothes out of my dresser, and made lunch all before noon. We ran a few more errands then got some gelato, took some to my sister at work, and went to the park to lay in the sun. We made two dinner simultaneously: salmon, baked potatoes and green salad for last night, and fajitas for leftovers so I don’t have to cook for a few days!

It was such a fabulous, productive day. What was even more strange was that my mood lasted the entire day. Normally I fall into a mid-afternoon slump that’s usually attributed to low blood sugar and a strong desire for caffeine. Not yesterday!

I love you mom! Thanks for putting up with my extreme moods (from both ends of the spectrum) and thanks for helping me get so much done!

P.S. We are so cute. :)

Happy Mother’s Day!

I know everyone always says this about their moms, but I truly have the BEST mama in the world! She’s caring, supportive, hilarious, loud, beautiful, crazy, and fun! There aren’t words to describe how appreciative I am of all you’ve done for me, mom! I love you to pieces and am so lucky to have you as my role model!

I love you even though you’re a shrimp!

And for being my pillow on long car rides…

I love your ridiculous obsession with your little rat dog…

And because you are always willing to explore with me!

You may be loud and boisterous, but you’re just so damn cute! How could we NOT love you?

Mom, you’ve been with me through the best times in my life…

…and the worst times…

Thank you for being there, always. You’ll never know how much it means to me. I love you!

Photo Shoot: Lisa, Kelsey, and Kyle

This shoot was done this weekend down in my hometown of Medford, OR. It was a lot of fun! The kids were up for some really fun poses that often including climbing! Kyle is almost 14 and Kelsey is 16; I was so impressed with how much they got into the photo shoot. I was also impressed by how helpful Kyle was, always lending a hand to help his sister or mom out of a tree or over a stream. What a great family to work with. :)

Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot, he full session can be seen on my Y11 facebook page.
